MEGAN MAGUIRE

ABOUT  ME:

I am an LPCC candidate completing my Master's in Counseling Psychology at the University of St. Thomas. If you're ready to create change in your life and to deepen your awareness of yourself, I am ready to support you. I desire to create a safe and supportive space for our work together where you can share your experience without judgement. My aim is to provide careful listening to help you to understand yourself better and to assist you in managing any uncomfortable feelings that may arise when one engages deeply in therapy.

Life is complex. I work with people struggling with a variety of challenges. I have a special interest in helping people navigate anxiety and depressive disorders, trauma-related symptoms, life transitions, and those wanting the ability to better manage everyday stressors. I take a gentle yet direct approach with my patients. I am here to learn about you, as well as to help you learn more about yourself.

I believe all people deserve access to culturally competent mental health treatment. I subscribe to a holistic approach to therapy and draw from person centered theory to create a safe and supportive environment for my patients to engage in deeper, more psychodynamic rooted work. I utilize specific interventions from CBT and DBT as well.

BACKGROUND:

I completed my undergraduate degree at Macalester College where I studied psychology, political science, and dance. I am a dance instructor and enjoy combining my love for movement with mental wellness. I have worked in the mental health field for over 5 years in a variety of roles and settings. Beyond my professional life, I enjoy spending time outdoors and trying recipes I find on Pinterest.
